ANNA SWEENEY
Network Lead Nurse & Education Lead
Anna was appointed in her role in June 2020 and continues to also work as a Senior Sister in Emergency Medicine and a Trauma Coordinator at the Whittington Hospital, a Trauma Unit in Central London where she has worked for the past 15 years. She is also the Chair of the National Major Trauma Nursing Group and Co-Vice Chair for the Pan London Trauma Nursing Group.
Education and training of the nursing and AHP workforce is Anna’s passion and she has built a training programme from scratch for her trauma unit which she is working to adapt for the Network in her new role. She has an interest in simulation and debrief and works on the faculty at various other hospitals within the network for simulation based training. She also works as a trainer for young people for the charity YourStance in haemorrhage control and trauma.
Anna has a special interest in audit and research and how it can improve patient outcomes and has taken an active role in the Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN) in her Hospital as firstly a coordinator and now as a manager over the years.
She has spoken at various conferences, the last being about Elderly Trauma at the Pan London Trauma Nursing Conference at the end of 2019.
