REFERRALS TO THE MAJOR TRAUMA CENTRE

All referrals into the Major Trauma Centre should come via referapatient®. This simple process allows for clinical data to be securely uploaded and sent to the specialist teams at The Royal London Hospital.

referapatient® can be used securely on PC's, laptops, tablets and smartphones. If using a PC or laptop, please ensure you are using a modern browser. Smartphones and some tablets allow for you to dictate your referral.

Paramedics

MAJOR TRAUMA

Use this work stream for a patient with polytrauma (multiple injuries) who you feel requires MTC care. This referral will go directly to the ED consultant in charge for review.

NEUROSURGERY

Use this work stream to refer patients with ISOLATED head injuries that you feel requires specialist neurosurgical input.

SPINAL SURGERY

Use this work stream for patients with ISOLATED spinal injuries that you feel requires specialists spinal input. Please note, out-of-hours these referrals will be reviewed by the neurosurgical team in the first instance.

TRAUMA & ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY

Use this work stream to refer patients with ISOLATED orthopaedic trauma. This includes complex periarticular fractures, open fractures and pelvic trauma that cannot be treated locally.
